This section is designed to help leaders with things that they may need to assist with their weekly programme. It could be the latest programme, information about things that are currently happening (seasonal events, celebrations), or it could be some hints and tips on different ways to deliver the programme to our young people.
This section will be developed and will grow over time as more ideas and suggestions are added. Meanwhile, if you have any ideas or suggestions for inclusion, please let us have them.
The Quality of Programme checker is a tool designed to help you to plan and review your section / group programmes over time.
We want to encourage more young people and leaders to join and this tool is designed to help us do just that. Leaders should use this tool to help them understand how their programme might be developed, to make scouting in their group or section better, whilst maintaining the very best from their Scouting experience for our young people and volunteers alike.

The Scouts Programme Planning tool is a one-stop programme planning shop: use it to get organised and get going. Available for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers' sections.
Our activity finder is bursting with programme ideas, and can be searched by section, time, cost, setting, type or learning outcomes. Whether you're looking for an adventurous, practical, outdoor, social or international activity we have you covered!
The Parent’s Guides give a brief introduction to each section, outlining the activities young people take part in, explaining the promise we make and even showing family members where all the badges go! They also highlight the skills young people develop at Scouts.
Use the Guides to show new adults and young people what Scouts is all about, as well as to keep existing members’ parents involved and informed.
There are four section-specific versions available to download:
They can also be found at:
Keeping good strong connections between the sections can really help to make sure your young people don’t drop off between sections. For tips on how to prepare your young people to move up to the next section, have a look at the following resources:
